Can Instagram AutoDM Work With Reels?
Yes. Instagram AutoDM works with Reels: a keyword comment can trigger product, affiliate, PDF or booking DMs. That is how many creators in India turn Reel comments into clicks.
Reels create repeated comments at a speed no inbox can match. AutoDM is for that spike - the 200th “link?” at 11pm - not for a quiet carousel you can answer by hand. Posts and Stories can use the same idea, but Reels are where the comment volume usually justifies the setup.
Teach the keyword in two places
- On-screen text for the first 2-3 seconds: one word, high contrast, not a paragraph.
- Caption last line: “Comment LINK for the products from this Reel.” People who watch without sound still see the sticker; people who read captions get the same token.
If the on-screen word is LINK and the caption says “drop a fire emoji for details,” you will get emojis your workflow does not send. Pick one token. Extra keywords are a later upgrade - see multiple keywords.

When to leave AutoDM off a Reel
- Trend audio with no product, booking, or resource - comments will not map to a payload.
- A sensitive topic where a canned DM would feel tone-deaf.
- A collab Reel where the other creator's bio should get the click, not your AutoDM.
After you post
Pin a comment that repeats the keyword. Reply once to an early commenter with the same instruction so the thread teaches lurkers. Do not pin a wall of links - that is what the DM is for. If the Reel is still getting comments a week later, open the workflow and check the destination URLs still work.
